A unique, handmade wall calendar 2024 made of handmade paper. The theme of the calendar is the Mithila Art. Calendar for 2024.

The print on the calendar is a hand stamp, which is then colored with paint. The 2024 calendar features Mithila Art symbols. Also called Madhubani art, it's a style of local painting method, done with mixed media in India and Nepal areas. Artists use brushes, nib pens, twigs or even their own fingers to make art mostly depicting people's relationship with nature and deities from ancient epics.

Colorful Nepali calendars are a perfect example of Nepali folk art, the so-called primitive/naive art This style, especially in African countries, is often called Tinga Tinga. It is characterized by exaggeration, vivid colors and animal motifs.

Lokta paper making is a traditional Nepali handicraft art. The papermaking technique is entirely manual. Lokta paper is made from daphne (Latin: daphne cannabina) growing in the Himalayas - a cousin of hemp.

This is a very ecological method of making paper - the plant regenerates and grows back extremely quickly. By purchasing Lokta paper, we actually support the work of people from the high-mountain Himalayan villages of eastern Nepal.

Each calendar has 8 pages including the cover (2 months on one page). Rectangular format similar to A4. Individual sheets of paper are tied with string.
